Job Description
Drive a pilot vehicle escorting abnormal loads (wide loads, heavy equipment) on national routes. Travel extensively across South Africa ensuring safe passage for oversized transport.
Responsibilities
Drive pilot/escort vehicle ahead of or behind abnormal loads
Communicate with abnormal load driver via radio
Warn other road users of approaching wide/heavy load
Ensure compliance with abnormal load permits
Assist with route planning around low bridges and narrow roads
Requirements
Valid Code B licence
Abnormal load escort training certificate
Willing to travel extensively (away 5-10 days at a time)
Good communication skills
Knowledge of national road network
Qualifications
Grade 10. Code B licence. Abnormal load escort certificate.
